Vasily Shandro with Leonid Finberg. The conversation was about new books published by the Dukh i Litera publishing house – about already published books, books prepared for publication, and research projects of the Judaica Center as well.

This book deals with the final chapter in the history of Agro-Joint, an organization created by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), which operated in the USSR from 1924 to 1938. Among a large number of “counterrevolutionaries” – the term en vogue during the Great Purges of 1937-38 – the workers of Agro-Joint are one of the lesser-known groups that were suppressed. With the opening of KGB archives in the former Soviet Union, additional aspects of the Agro-Joint venture have begun to emerge in chilling detail.
The Child of Man is a collection of works by the famous Polish writer, doctor, and teacher, Janusz Korczak (1878-1942), published in Ukrainian for the first time. Texts of various genres (treatise, drama, diary etc.), compiled by S. Petrovska, demonstrate his child-centric philosophy developed over the harsh twentieth century. The life and works of Janusz Korczak are outstanding treasures of the international humanistic tradition. This book is aimed at non-specialist audience.
