Janusz Korczak. The Child of Man: Selected Works

The Child of Man is a collection of works by the famous Polish writer, doctor, and teacher, Janusz Korczak (1878-1942), published in Ukrainian for the first time. Texts of various genres (treatise, drama, diary etc.), compiled by S. Petrovska, demonstrate his child-centric philosophy developed over the harsh twentieth century. The life and works of Janusz Korczak are outstanding treasures of the international humanistic tradition. This book is aimed at non-specialist audience.

Janusz Korczak. The Right to Be Respected

The collection of essays The Right to Be Respected includes selected works of the famous Polish writer, humanist, doctor, and educator Janusz Korczak (1878-1942). Different in genre and style, written in different years, the common thread that runs through these works is a love of children and a good understanding of child psychology. Joanna Olczak-Roniker. Janusz Korczak. Pages of biography

The storyline based on the autobiography taken from Janusz Korczak’s diary shows life story of Doctor interlaced with Polish Jews destinies and choices narration.
Young Korczak appears as a young man seeking his own way, young doctor tending to public activity, a teacher proclaiming groundbreaking theories, a writer, a long time head of an Orphanage for Jewish children, an employee at the “Our home” – boarding school for Polish children. Korczak did not support any political party or any ideology. Throughout all his life he was firmly convinced that it is possible to be both a Jew and a Pole. Shortly before his death Janusz Korczak wrote: “I do not want to harm anyone. I am  not able. I do not know how to do it”.

Cheslav Milosh. Grand Princedom of Literature. Selected Essays

Адам Міхнік. У пошуках свободи. Есеї про історію та політику

У книзі представлені есеї Адама Міхніка – польського громадського діяча, дисидента, публіциста, активного учасника політичної опозиції в Польщі 1968–1989 років, одного з лідерів легендарної «Солідарності», головного редактора «Ґазети виборчої» з 1989 року до теперішнього часу. А. Міхніх як представник першого післявоєнного покоління активно долучився до створення нової Польщі. Він пройшов крізь арешти і ув’язнення, долаючи наклепи, втрати, розчарування… Його мрією була демократична Польща, і він докладав максимум зусиль задля досягнення цієї мети. Події та роздуми про ці події знайшли своє відображення на сторінках книги. Періоду боротьби з комунізмом присвячені три перші есеї збірки, періоду змагань за вільну і демократичну Польщу – всі інші. У книгу увійшли нариси про ідейних наставників Міхніка – Антонія Слонімського та Яцека Куроня, про дилеми польського романтизму, про драматичне переплетення польсько-українських та польсько-єврейських стосунків, які Міхнік розуміє і відчуває як мало хто.
