Видавнича діяльність становить значну частину роботи Центру юдаїки. Щороку ми готуємо до друку близько 10–12 видань. І за роки нашої роботи ми опублікували низку книг з історії, культури та філософії євреїв України та Європи. Частина з цих праць вже стала бібліографічною рідкістю.

Центр юдаїки разом із видавництвом «Дух і Літера» опублікували понад 80 книг, серед яких «Єврейська цивілізація: оксфордський підручник з юдаїки» (2012); путівник «Єврейські адреси Києва» (2012); «Діалоги порозуміння: українсько-єврейські взаємини» (2011); «Культур-Ліґа: художній аванґард 1910-1920-х років» (2007); «Поза межами розуміння: філософи та богослови про Голокост» (2009) та інші.

Наші книги одержали низку відзнак на національних та міжнародних книжкових фестивалях. Так, видання «Книжкова графіка митців Культур-Ліґи» та «Єврейська цивілізація: оксфордський підручник з юдаїки» отримали вищі нагороди Форуму видавців у Львові та «Книжкового Арсеналу» 2012 року.

Martin Buber. Me and You. Paths according to the Hasidic Teachings

Through this book one can meet with the world of ideas of Martin Buber – philosopher, thinker, writer, whose power of thought defined intellectual ways of the twentieth century. The book consists of two texts – Me and You and Paths according to the Hasidic teachings. The first one is the most famous philosophical work by Buber. This small treatise appeared to be a manifesto of the twentieth century philosophy. The philosopher offers to apply to the Other not as to an object – to “It”, but as to “You” – the same subject of a dialogue as “Me’’.

And Generation Are Passing by… Anthology of contemporary Israeli poetry

The anthology presents the world of 16 Israeli poets translated by the leading Ukrainian poets. The book is a poetic document of the generation bringing together poets born in Israel, and returned ones from all over the world. Among contemporary authors one can find in the Anthology the poets engaged in the Arab-Israeli conflict and those who declare themselves to be out of politics, those who came from the ultra-orthodox circles and secular Jews, townspeople and inhabitants of kibbutz …
The Anthology includes urban poetry, erotic poetry, war poems, prayers, poems-comments on the sacred texts… This diversity reflects the poetic polyphony of the Israeli reality.

Jewish civilization. Oxford Handbook of Jewish Studies

The book is the translation of the Oxford Textbook of Jewish Studies. This unique edition for Ukrainian humanities publications presents history of the Jewish science from its beginnings to the present. Here one can find the whole vast space of the Jewish civilization: history of communities in different regions (Muslim countries, Christian West, Central and Eastern Europe, etc.) and at different times (the Talmudic period, the Middle Ages, modern period, contemporary times). Mykhailo Kal’nytskyi. Jewish Addresses of Kiev guide-book

The author of the book (famous historian Mikhailo Kal’nytskyi, board-member of the Ukrainian Society for Protection of Monuments of History and Culture) is for many years exploring the past and present of his beloved Kiev for many years. Generalization of his many years work was presented in the book published as a guide-book. It tells about the life of Kiev citizens, and about their life lessons. Some sections are devoted to memorable places and Jewish cemeteries. The book describes dozens of objects: buildings and structures where major events of Jewish life in XIX -XX centuries (synagogues, publishing houses, educational institutions, offices of political parties and movements) took place. One will find brief biographical sketches of the Jewish community leaders, writers, and politicians. Previously unknown documents discovered in the archives of Kiev are firstly published in this book as well.

David Gofshtein. Oh my Whole Wide World… Selected poems

This book represents the fullest collection of translated works of the great Jewish poet David Gofshtein. The book is based upon two volume edition of selected works: issued in the original language in Tel Aviv (Israel, publishing house “Isroel – booh”), and “Favorites” by David Gofshtein issued in Ukrainian in Kiev (Ukrainskyi Pys’mennyk Publishing house). The widow of the poet Feiga Gofshtein was a compiler of both publications. All dedications and epigraphs that for obvious reasons could not be published in the Soviet era were restored in this edition.
Among translators of the poems one will find M. Rylsky, P. Tychyna, V. Sosiura, L. Kostenko, G. Kochur, M. Lucash, L. Pervomayskyi, N. Tyhyi, V. Boguslavska. (more…)
